This scholarship fund was established in 1985 by Stephen D. Durrant, and is open to Biology majors who are finishing their freshman or sophomore years. Three scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded to cover tuition.  A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. The recipient of this award may apply for a second year, if funding is available. This scholarship requires that the applicant/awardee have graduated from a Utah high school or be a US citizen or permanent resident (green card).

One award of $1,000 is available to a Biology major engaged in research in the area of genetics.  The recipient must demonstrate a record of strong academic accomplishment (cumulative University of Utah GPA of at least 3.0) as well as a strong history of involvement in artistic or creative pursuits such as writing, composing (or other musical achievement), painting (or other visual art), or film-making. This scholarship requires that the applicant/awardee have graduated from a Utah high school or be a US citizen or permanent resident (green card). 

This scholarship was established in 2018 by the Fujimoto family to honor the memory of Esther Fujimoto and her career as a research scientist in Molecular Biology at the University of Utah.  This scholarship is available to declared Biology majors who are finishing their sophomore or junior years.  One scholarship of $500 will be awarded for use towards the cost of tuition.  A minimum GPA of 3.5 is required.  Preference will be given to students who are working in a Molecular Biology lab or who are first-generation college students. This scholarship requires that the applicant/awardee have graduated from a Utah high school, or be a US citizen, or be a permanent resident (green card).
